Neighborhood America Spreads Gov 2.0 Knowledge Globally
August 26, 2009 - As our nation moves toward adopting social media technologies to support President Obama's vision of a more transparent, participatory and collaborative government, governments around the world face a similar opportunity. Neighborhood America, an award-winning enterprise social software provider, will participate in a transatlantic dialogue on Gov 2.0 this week, in hopes of taking the guesswork out of this global initiative.

Neighborhood America CEO Kim Patrick Kobza will be in Washington, D.C. August 26th and 27th to participate in the Potomac Forum Gov 2.0 Best Practices Symposium, which will feature social media tools and techniques within six focus areas:
  • Leadership
  • Collaboration
  • Public Engagement
  • Contests
  • Crowdsourcing
  • Social Media in the Workplace

Recognizing the importance of these areas early in 1999, Neighborhood America was the first to develop Gov 2.0 solutions that directly address public engagement and crowdsourcing among others. Not to mention, the company's solutions have supported initiatives within many of the federal agencies slated to share success stories at the symposium, including the U.S. Department of Defense and Health and Human Services.

While Kim connects with federal leadership stateside, Neighborhood America CTO David Bankston speaks at the Microsoft Gov 2.0 Camp in Berlin, Germany August 27th. As a Microsoft Worldwide Partner, David is invited to discuss Neighborhood America's enterprise-appropriate technologies that enable government to share decision-making power with citizens and employees, without giving up control, sacrificing security or compromising integrity. These solutions leverage cloud-based Software as a Service delivery.

While all of the German political parties campaign heavily online, a cultural shift still needs to happen to encourage the elected civil servants to adopt a new era of open government. As a result, the two nations stand to benefit from bringing power back to the citizens and Neighborhood America is privileged to be a part of the conversations.
