December 19, 2007 - Neighborhood America today announced that David Bankston, executive vice president and CTO, earned the distinction of one of the top 2008 Modern-Day Technology Leaders from U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine, and will be recognized at the 22nd Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference in February 2008.
The awards are presented annually to recognize and honor the technical and professional achievements of African-American men and women who are shaping the future of engineering, science and technology. An industry-wide committee chooses recipients from a competitive field of candidates selected for their academic credentials, career achievements and community outreach efforts. Bankston ranked highly among an impressive list of high-level executives from companies such as Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM Corporation, Texas Instruments, The Boeing Company, and Lockheed Martin.
Bankston is a pioneer in the software industry, leading the design, development, and execution of one of the first Software as a Service (SaaS) products on the market. His leadership and knowledge has led Neighborhood America to commercial success, establishing the company as a leading provider of enterprise social network solutions.
Bankston oversees development and is responsible for consistently driving technological innovation. He leads a team that consists of five departments and nearly 50 technical professionals.
"David's systems are literally changing the world. They enable business, government, and media to realize collective intelligence - what we call 'the power of many' - to create real value in participatory processes," says Kim Patrick Kobza, president and CEO, Neighborhood America.
Paul Greenberg, author of the best-selling book CRM at the Speed of Light, said Bankston is "A pioneer in the creation of technologies and architectures that are at the cutting edge of creating the current revolution in social networks and user communities - the new media of communication being used by missions across the globe."
Aside from being a pioneer and a visionary, Bankston is a giving soul who shares his passion and experience with our future business leaders as an adjunct professor at Antioch University McGregor in Ohio. He is committed to recruiting and retaining minorities, and in fact, Neighborhood America's workforce makes up a diverse group of people from seven different countries and minorities represent nearly half of the company's leadership team.
Bankston will be recognized among his peers at a leadership luncheon during the 22nd Annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference, a renowned gathering of Black technical professionals. Winners will also be profiled in the official conference publication, U.S. Black Engineer and Information Technology, a leading, global source of technology news and information.
